The About section is the one part of LinkedIn that is not a resume, and treating it like one wastes it. It is first person, it can carry the context a resume has no room for - the career change, the gap, why you moved industries - and it is the last thing a recruiter reads before deciding to message you.
Writing an About section people finish reading
The first two lines are the whole battle
LinkedIn collapses the section behind a "see more" link after roughly three lines on desktop and fewer on mobile. Whatever would make someone want to expand it has to happen before that cut, which rules out opening with your degree.
First person, and actually written that way
This section takes I. Third-person bios - "Priya is a data analyst who..." - read as a press release on a page that is otherwise a conversation. Write it the way you would introduce yourself.
Explain the thing your resume cannot
A two-year gap, a pivot from teaching to UX, a title that means something different at your company than elsewhere. A resume has no place for that context; this is where it goes, in one sentence, without apology.
End by saying what you want
Most About sections stop after the history and leave the reader with nothing to do. One closing line naming what you are open to - and how to reach you - converts a profile view into a message.
